The supply chain changes across Volkswagen Group are leading to new possibilities across Volkswagen Konzernlogistik (Group Logistics), the central logistics planning and service provider across the group’s brands, global plants and distribution networks, according to Matthias Braun, head of digitalisation and concept development. Digital opportunities in technology like virtual reality and digital twins are enabling new opportunities for optimisation, while electrification of plants and components bring with them new requirements. Most importantly, according to Braun, Volkswagen Group is going to have to intensify its collaboration with logistics and supply chain management providers, ensuring a focus on partnerships rather than purely tendering and contracting.
