AI playing a greater role in production and logistics says Autoparts from Spain

Autoparts from Spain, a collaboration of suppliers that provides intelligence on the automotive equipment and components industry in the country, reported this week that advanced AI applications are transforming the way components are produced in the country, enabling greater operational efficiency.
Combined with predictive analytics, the technology is also transforming the supply chain and improving the competitiveness of the automotive industry in Spain.
The supplier group said that its members are implementing advanced manufacturing in almost every stage of the vehicle production process. That includes the use of collaborative robots and automated systems with self-learning capabilities.
The application of the technology enables repetitive tasks to be carried out with greater precision and speed, reducing production times and optimising resources, according to the group. For example, Industry 5.0 concepts being used by Fersa Bearings have enabled it to expand operations at its plant in Zaragoza, with an area dedicated to collaborative robotics and AI applied to logistics.
In addition, Fersa Bearings is developing mobile robotics solutions for loading and unloading in its Zaragoza and Austria plants and driving process automation with the incorporation of collaborative robots in grinding lines and new autonomous systems supplying the production lines.
Autoparts from Spain said the adoption of these technologies has not only improved efficiency and reliability in Spain’s automotive industry, but has also positioned Spanish manufacturers as benchmarks for innovation and excellence in the international market.
“The combination of the knowledge accumulated by our companies and the implementation of AI solutions allows us to offer high value-added components that meet the requirements of the world’s leading automakers,” said a spokesperson for the supplier group.
Earlier this year Autoparts from Spain reported that the country’s automotive component suppliers exported parts worth more than €25 billion ($28.9 billion) in 2024. The level of exports reaffirms foreign trade as a growth driver for automotive suppliers based in Spain, said the association, making Spain the third-largest exporter of automotive components in Europe.
Parts exports account for 60% of total production and digitalisation is essential to supporting the sector’s competitiveness and sustainability, according to the spokesperson.
"At Autoparts from Spain, we will continue promoting the adoption of these technologies among our companies, helping to solidify Spain's global leadership in automotive component manufacturing," said the spokesperson.
