Geodis said the AI department will “play a pivotal part” in its transformation. “This positions AI as a driver of performance, process simplification and innovation across all its lines of business,” said the company. “The initiative will enable Geodis to harness the power of AI to accelerate its transformation and drive sustainable growth for its customers and partners throughout the world.”

Tarac joined Geodis in July 2022 as deputy group chief financial officer (CFO) and was appointed CFO in January 2023. Carole Besnard will replace him in the CFO role, moving from her position as deputy group CFO. Prior to Geodis, Tarac held a number of senior roles in the aerospace industry, including managing director of ADP International Americas and deputy CEO at TAV Airports.

Geodis has previously outlined the advantages of using AI to benefit a digital supply chain, pointing to how it can help operational teams make decisions on a range of logistics tasks. They include optimising delivery routes, managing inventory more accurately and using predictive maintenance to reduce downtime and costs.

In another move announced this week, Geodis has appointed Amaury Valicon as executive vice-president of Europe effective November 1. He replaces Thomas Kraus. Since joining Geodis in 2017, Valicon has served as CFO and chief operations officer.
