New Goodyear CIO is focused on driving the company’s global technology strategy
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has appointed Raman Mehta as senior vice president and chief information officer. He joins the company from a similar role at Johnson Electric Holdings and, in his new role, has emphasised the importance of data and digitalisation across every function – including supply chain operations.
Raman Mehta, who took over as senior vice president and chief information officer at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company this past December to lead global IT, digital strategy, cybersecurity and infrastructure, is focused on advancing the company’s digital and technology strategy, with a focus on strategic adoption of emerging technologies.
An IT leader with a track record of driving change across enterprise systems and data architecture at automotive and industrial manufacturers, Mehta is set to lead Goodyear’s IT team. Talking to Automotive Logistics, he set out priorities that include exploring technological advancements and introducing new platforms that will have benefits across the enterprise, including for supply chain and logistics.
Mehta is based at Goodyear’s global headquarters in Akron, Ohio, and reports to Goodyear chief executive officer and president Mark Stewart.
Raman Mehta joins Goodyear from his most recent role as senior vice president and CIO at electric motor and systems manufacturer Johnson Electric Holdings, where he helped navigate crises including Covid and the semiconductor shortage. He overhauled systems and data strategy with a strong push towards agile IT and business teams, fostering a digital mindset and data democratisation across the organisation.
He previously led IT and digital strategy at Visteon Corporation, where he oversaw system and cloud transformation across enterprise systems with significant benefits across operations, customer engagement and supply chain.
At Goodyear, Mehta’s role spans the full technology portfolio across the 127-year-old Fortune 500 manufacturer. As CIO, he will be responsible for enhancing customer experience, dealer operations, internal productivity, cybersecurity and global infrastructure.
Mehta stressed the importance of enterprise data architecture in driving digital transformation across all business functions. He has been a leader in developing an ‘Enterprise Grade Intelligence’ (EGI) framework, which helps large organisations build data systems capable of supporting advanced AI and analytics. According to Mehta, EGI is also key to overcoming master data quality challenges from legacy systems – which he pointed to as one of the biggest hurdles to scaling AI applications across any enterprise.
According to Mehta, the convergence of AI advancement and enterprise complexity has underlined the importance of data and digital transformation across every function. “Chief executives have recognised the value of having a backbone of a good logistics system and ERP system, connected factories and clean data,” he said.
“What energises me most is the opportunity to collaborate with Goodyear’s exceptional global team – driving innovation and creating value in this dynamic technology landscape,” said Mehta. “Being part of a 127-year legacy while shaping its digital future is an incredible privilege.”
