Stellantis’s new $64m Mopar Parts Distribution Center (PDC) in East Fishkill, New York helps localise its supply chain within the US.
Stellantis has officially opened its $64m Mopar Parts Distribution Center (PDC) in East Fishkill, New York to enhance its service across the Northeast region of the US.
The 534,000 sq ft centre will be stocked with more than 46,000 unique parts and will be equipped to handle more than 2m shipments each year.
The OEM said the PDC will strengthen support for both dealers and customers and is strategically positioned to optimise service throughout the region.
Stellantis has been adjusting its supply chain strategy in North America to become leaner and more localised, particularly following the recent import tariffs the US has implemented. In April, the OEM paused production at its plants in Canada and Mexico. The PDC, located near some of the carmaker’s key North American ports including the port of New York and New Jersey and the port of Baltimore, further strengthens the localisation of its supply network within the US.
The PDC will also mark the first Stellantis facility in the US to feature AutoStore’s warehouse logistics digital tool for automated storage and retrieval. The warehouse technology integrates 40 robotic units that use advanced picking technology to navigate a track system above a high-density grid filled with stored parts. The robots can pick from one of 70,000 bins stacked within 18,000 sq ft and deliver them to processing stations where PDC employees prepare final shipments. In Stellantis’ statement, the OEM said the automation “significantly enhances parts order completion speed, accuracy and dependability while minimising the warehouse footprint needed for inventory storage”.
“The launch of our new Mopar PDC in East Fishkill marks a significant investment in our long-term growth and service capabilities,” said Darren Bradshaw, senior vice-president for supply chain in North America, Mopar. “This facility supports our dedicated UAW-represented workforce with the tools and environment they need to succeed. By integrating cutting-edge technology and automation, we’re strengthening our supply chain, accelerating delivery times and reinforcing our commitment to dealer and customer satisfaction along with employee success.”
