The Renault Boreal will now be produced in both Brazil and Turkey

In June 2026, Renault confirmed that its Bursa plant in Turkey will become the second global production hub for the Boreal SUV, complementing production at Curitiba, Brazil. This move, Renault said, "reinforces Boreal's industrial footprint and enables exports to a group of markets across Eastern Europe, the Middle East and the North and Sub-Saharan Africa".

Designed for international markets, the Boreal has been produced in Curitiba, Brazil since its launch in 2025 for 17 Latin American markets. Production in Bursa regionalises manufacturing for Eastern Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa, with the Turkish plant supplying 54 additional markets.

Renault has said this dual-hub manufacturing model will strengthen competitiveness by increasing proximity to customers, improving logistics agility and optimising production costs through manufacturing vehicles closer to their destination markets.

Renault's decision to manufacture the Boreal in Bursa is no accident. The hub is strategically positioned to serve the Turkish domestic market while taking advantage of Turkey's well-established manufacturing base and its role as a logistics gateway linking Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

The Bursa site will also manufacture the new full hybrid E-Tech powertrain, expanding its manufacturing capabilities beyond final vehicle assembly.

"Production in Bursa will enable us to address the Turkish market, Renault's second-largest market worldwide, while opening up exports to a group of markets across Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa," explained Ivan Segal, Renault Brand head of sales and operations.

The launch of the Boreal in 2025 marked the fourth launch in the Renault International Game Plan – a commitment to investing €3 billion to launch eight new models outside Europe by 2027.

Renault's International Game Plan is underpinned by two modular vehicle platforms designed to support regional production and improve competitiveness. These include a new "ultra-flexible, multi-energy" Renault Group platform dedicated to four specific regions (Latin America, North Africa, Turkey and India) and the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform for D- and E-segment models, developed in partnership with Geely and produced in South Korea.

"Boreal demonstrates our ability to develop global voitures à vivre, produced close to their markets and thoughtfully adapted to local customer needs, combining desirability, innovation and everyday relevance for customers around the world," commented Renault Brand CEO Fabrice Cambolive.
