As OEMs continue to explore Mexico's potential as an automotive hub, it's important that the region's supply chains operate efficiently, sustainably and flexibly. At Automotive Logistics & Supply Chain Mexico 2025 in Mexico City, DP World's David D'Annunzio will discuss how Mexico’s automotive supply chain is boosting efficiency and cutting costs through smart logistics optimisation, digital tools and streamlined operations.
Automotive Logistics: DP World has been the designated knowledge partner across the Automotive Logistics & Supply Chain event series since 2023, why do you feel these events are so important to attend and what is DP World looking to get out of the upcoming event in Mexico?
David D'Annunzio: Our continued partnership with Automotive Logistics is about collaboration and knowledge exchange with regional and global leaders across the automotive industry. For DP World, these events are an opportunity for us to listen to our customers and co-develop solutions that help them compete more effectively in the North American and Latin American markets.
At ALSC Mexico, we’re particularly focused on how global best practice connects with regional opportunity. With the country now a strategic hub for OEMs, it’s critical to explore how advanced logistics, multimodal solutions and integrated digital platforms can help manufacturers scale efficiently and meet growing export demand.
AL: DP World’s Beat Simon spoke on a panel at the Global event in Detroit about combatting unpredictability, which is one of the key themes of the conference agenda in Mexico. You will also be joining us in Mexico City to discuss another of the event’s key themes: maximising efficiency. Why do you think it is so important to ensure that automotive supply chains in Mexico are innovative, optimised and flexible in today’s market?
D'Annunzio: The Mexican automotive industry is entering a pivotal phase. As global manufacturers expand operations in the region, the need for innovative, optimised and flexible logistics systems becomes non-negotiable. Supply chains must be capable of adapting to production variability, shifting trade routes and rising sustainability standards.
Our experience across 50+ automotive logistics sites globally shows that efficiency is not just about speed – it’s about visibility, collaboration and data-led decision-making. By combining digital integration with multimodal capability (road, rail and sea), we’re helping customers in Mexico and beyond to build smarter, more agile supply chains that can respond to market changes in real time.
AL: And lastly, as the Automotive Logistics & Supply Chain global series concludes in Mexico after the Europe, Global and ASEAN events, what have been the most consistent messages or emerging priorities you’ve seen worldwide, and how do you see those shaping automotive supply chains going into 2026?
D'Annunzio: Across all the regions where we’ve partnered with Automotive Logistics & Supply Chain this year, the same themes consistently resonate with audiences and industry leaders – resilience, visibility and sustainability. These are also the cornerstones of DP World’s automotive logistics strategy. For example, electrification is redefining supply chain design, while digitalisation is moving from concept to necessity. Above all, we’re seeing a clear shift from transactional logistics to strategic, data-driven partnerships – something DP World is uniquely positioned to deliver through our global network and digital platforms.
Looking ahead to 2026, I believe the industry will continue to focus on balancing cost, sustainability and resilience. At DP World, our role is to be a trusted partner, helping our customers integrate logistics, technology and financing to make their supply chains not just efficient, but also future-ready and capable of driving long-term competitive advantage.
