The automotive industry was already undergoing significant transformation, but the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated the pace of change, making a reliable and connected source of market intelligence more important than ever for managing complexity, building resilience and supporting planning workflows.

That is why Mobility Global is launching a dedicated platform to connect core data and capability and help vehicle lifecycle planners see the big picture. The platform will offer users integrated access to Mobility Global forecasts and analysis, covering everything from global production and sales to supply chain vulnerability and consumer trends.

Mobility Global is a spin-off and standalone public company previously known as S&P Global Mobility. It is born out of a long legacy of market research and advisory services, providing critical intelligence across the vehicle lifecycle to automotive suppliers, OEMs, dealers and consumers worldwide.

An established team of industry experts is the foundation of this intelligence. When the new platform launches later this year, an AI-driven integration layer will allow users to easily synthesise this expertise and apply it more quickly to their everyday decision-making.

Mobility Global’s aim is to give users one place to find the trusted data and strategic guidance they need, regardless of position in the value chain. The company provides intelligence on everything from pricing strategy and consumer behaviour to sales and production forecasts, supply chain vulnerability, and regulatory compliance.

Mobility Global analysts update more than 30 million lines of forecast data each month and provide long-range prediction of what the industry will look like to help customers manage risks and plan effectively. The new platform aims to make the most of the latest AI technology and provide quicker answers to questions customers have when it comes to planning and building vehicles.

“Our customers are making major CapEx and OpEx decisions,” says Matteo Fini, vice-president and head of product, planning solutions at Mobility Global. “It may impact a new facility that they are opening or optimise the running costs of their operations. The stakes are huge for these major expenditure allocations and reliable data and consistent methodology are a prerequisite.”

Mobility Global is investing in the Planning Solutions services those customers deserve, unlocking added value by focusing exclusively on the automotive sector.

According to Fini, the automotive industry has a luxury problem in terms of the quantity and quality of the data it generates compared to other industries. “This is effectively where the Mobility Global spin-off comes into play,” he says. “It is the only company that can offer both these benefits under one roof and it is enhancing the speed and reliability of that data with the latest AI technology.”

Built for OEMs, suppliers and the full automotive value chain

Mobility Global’s customer base includes anyone involved in automotive manufacturing, servicing or selling vehicles, all the way to the end consumers. Customers include 100% of the top 40 global OEMs and 98% of top 100 tier-one suppliers, as well as an extensive number of dealers and end consumers in North America.

It also serves industries that have an interest and involvement with automotive, such as financial investors, insurance companies, and lenders. Mobility Global is the source of the critical intelligence these groups use.

The newly launched company has three divisions. Carfax provides consumers with details of vehicle history and repair records, offering transparency on used vehicle transactions. It helps facilitate nearly 40 million new vehicle sales a year and has approximately 28 billion vehicle history reports.

The second division is Mobility Global Sales Solutions, home of industry-leading brands such as Polk, automotiveMastermind and Market Scan. Polk has been the industry authority on automotive intelligence for over 100 years. automotiveMastermind’s platform gives dealers insights into their entire market and using their proprietary Behavior Prediction Score, defines who each dealer should be marketing to, what offers motivate them to buy and how soon a dealer should begin marketing to them. Market Scan combines decades of payment expertise, the most comprehensive incentive, lender and municipality data in the market, and real-time, penny-perfect calculations to power deal-ready executions.

This is our way of delivering, under one single consumption layer, a significant portion of our content, supported by AI, to aid our customers. Making that content accessible to our customers has been the driving force behind the effort to launch our new platform, dramatically reducing the time to insight” – Matteo Fini, Mobility Global

Mobility Global Planning Solutions, the third division, helps carmakers and suppliers plan which vehicle they should launch, strategies to secure their supply chain and ways to maintain agility through scenario planning. “It includes the content of the vehicle, including what specifications and features it should have, and what sort of volumes are expected for that kind of vehicle,” explains Fini. “It goes all the way down to identifying the suppliers that can provide the technology.”

On Mobility Global Planning Solution’s new AI-powered intelligence platform, the forecast services and the data feeding them are more closely connected. As a result, the company is able to answer more questions and solve more problems for its customers.

“This is our way of delivering, under one single consumption layer, a significant portion of our content, supported by AI, to aid our customers,” says Fini. “Making that content accessible to our customers has been the driving force behind the effort to launch our new platform, dramatically reducing the time to insight. Customers will be able to access our intelligence, data and analytics from one single interface and leverage latest AI interaction layers to extract even more value from our offerings.”

Connect demand signals to supply risk – then act

A core focus for Mobility Global is exactly that ability to more efficiently serve customer needs by closely connecting the data and assets of the company and making product offerings more coherent. Mobility Global’s AI-native solution has been built from the ground up and will shorten the delivery of automotive-focused intelligence for its customers.

“If you look at our inbound supply chain intelligence, connected with our demand forecast, we help customers figure out where they should look for alternative sources for parts or materials and where potential choke points may appear” says Fini. “This is a core workflow we serve and seek to even better serve in the future.”

Mobility Global’s data and insights are considered the global standard across the industry. Efforts made to build and maintain that reputation make it the go-to source for industry stakeholders worldwide.

“Customers’ trust in our data, analytics and intelligence is paramount. That’s what has allowed us to hold our standards so high over the years and with this renewed focus, we have the foundation to build even more solutions on those same principles,” says Fini.
