Ahead of Automotive Logistics & Supply Chain Mexico 2025 in Mexico City,  David Resetar, executive vice-president and global head of automotive at DSV, discusses what it takes to future-proof Mexico's automotive supply chain, from resilience to efficiency to flexibility.

He identifies several key challenges that automotive and logistics companies must combat in the coming years, including cost pressures, issues with infrastructure, changes in material flows, tariff uncertainty and the electrification of vehicles.

Resetar also acknowledges that there are "lots of opportunities" in Mexico's automotive space, noting that DSV has made development in Mexico a critical part of its automotive vertical strategy.

He points towards contract logistics warehousing as one of the greatest areas of opportunity in the space, noting that trends in nearshoring and localisation is driving demand for these services.

He also says that the influx of vehicles from China into Mexico has led to increased demand for aftersales and service parts distribution, which he believes is another considerable area of opportunity.

When it comes to investment, Resetar says investing in digitalisation will be key to unlocking efficiency improvements, and emphasises that sustainability and security are still crucial to ensure the long-term success of businesses in this industry.
