Brian Sweeney (pictured) is moving to the newly created position of vice-president, dealer operations and innovation at General Motors from November 15.

In the role, he will lead changes in retail and work with Chevrolet, Buick and GMC dealers to deliver a world-class customer experience and a robust dealer business model, the US carmaker said.

“Competition is intensifying, customer expectations are rising, and technology is transforming vehicles, dealership operations and the way we engage with customers,” said Barry Engle, executive vice-president and president, GM North America.

“We will meet these changes head on and we are putting some of our most experienced and accomplished leaders in charge of embracing change and driving innovation.”

Sweeney is currently US vice-president of Chevrolet sales, service and marketing.
