BMW awards seven-year production logistics contract to Unipart at Oxfordshire Mini plant
Logistics service provider Unipart has announced that it has been awarded a seven-year contract by BMW Group to provide production logistics services at the group's Mini plant in Cowley, Oxfordshire in the UK.

Unipart has confirmed that, under the new contract, it will manage inbound logistics, warehousing, inventory management and just-in-sequence delivery at the plant. It has said it will will manage the complex flow of components to the assembly line, with real-time data management and lean principles, to drive maximum efficiency and support high-volume production.
Headquartered in Cowley, where the Mini plant is based, Unipart's relationship with BMW Group goes back several years.
"We are delighted to have secured this new contract with BMW Group," said Darren Leigh, chief executive at Unipart. "The extension of Unipart’s long term relationship with the Mini plant is testament to the expertise and dedication of our team in Cowley.“
He added: "Our proximity to the plant, combined with our understanding of BMW’s production requirements, allows us to provide a truly integrated logistics solution that will support the future of the iconic MINI brand.”

During this interview ahead of Automotive Logistics & Supply Chain UK in June – where Unipart is the premier partner – Dobeer touched on the growing importance of circular economy principles and the rapid growth of Chinese OEMs since their arrival in the UK market.
“There is a real shift in terms of sustainability,” said Dobeer. “It’s not just a topic of conversation anymore… It’s very much at the forefront.”
