The companies identified efficiency, resilience and sustainability as the three key areas they are aiming to improve through this collaboration, with the CMA CGM and its fully owned subsidiary Ceva Logistics also focusing on supporting Chery's ambitions for further development in markets all around the world.
Chery is set to leverage the CMA CGM Group's expertise in global shipping and Ceva Logistics' cross-border and automotive logistics capabilities to support its localisation strategy and the expansion of its international footprint. Under the terms of the MoU, the two logistics companies will support Chery's operations in four key markets: Europe; Asia-Pacific; Latin America; and the Middle East.
"By combining CMA CGM’s extensive global shipping and logistics capabilities with CEVA Logistics’ end-to-end automotive logistics expertise, this three-party partnership is well positioned to enhance local market responsiveness, strengthen supply chain performance and support more resilient international operations," said Chen Chunqing, executive vice president of Chery International. "Through this collaboration, we believe we can better serve local market needs while jointly fostering robust, localised and future-ready supply chain ecosystems."
The agreement covers the movement of finished vehicles, automotive parts and EV batteries. CMA CGM and Ceva Logistics are set to provide Chery with "integrated end-to-end solutions" spanning domestic distribution, international transportation and complex multimodal operations.
"As global automotive supply chains become increasingly complex, strong and reliable transport and logistics partnerships are more important than ever," commented Amélie Humphreys, general manager at CMA CGM China, reiterating all three parties' commitment to strengthening resilience, efficiency and sustainability.
"As Chery Auto accelerates its international footprint, managing complex, multi-market automotive supply chains becomes a critical differentiator," added Eric Dessupoiu, vice president of finished vehicle logistics at CEVA Logistics. "We are proud to support this strengthened collaboration and Chery Auto’s continued global momentum."
Chery is actively pursuing a localisation strategy in key international markets, including the UK. Recently, it was announced that Chery International signed a non-binding MoU with Nissan to explore the possibility of Chery vehicles being manufactured on Line One at Nissan's plant in Sunderland.
