Schiebe replaces Burzer in lead production and supply chain role at Mercedes
Michael Schiebe will take over from Jörg Burzer as management board member overseeing production, quality and supply chain management at Mercedes-Benz Group on December 1 this year.

Schiebe moves from his role as CEO of Mercedes-AMG and head of the Top End Vehicle (TEV) Group.
Jörg Burzer will move to take over responsibility for development and procurement, as well as becoming chief technology officer (CTO) from Markus Schäfer, who is retiring after 30 years with the company.
Mercedes-Benz said the change in the CTO position “stands for renewal in times of transformation and dynamic market challenges” and “strengthens an agile, efficient and innovative vehicle development”.
“Two outstanding managers from our own ranks, Jörg Burzer and Michael Schiebe, are taking over key divisions that are of decisive importance for the future success of Mercedes-Benz Group,” said Martin Brudermüller, chairman of the supervisory board of Mercedes-Benz Group."
Brudermüller said that Burzer took vehicle production at Mercedes-Benz to a new level “with vision, consistency and a clear focus on innovation, flexibility and efficiency”, and he is the ideal choice to lead and further develop the Development and Procurement business.
Burzer joined the management board of Daimler in December 1, 2021 as part of wider restructuring at the company. He joined the former DaimlerChrysler in 1999, working in vehicle pre-development. He was made board member responsible for production and supply chain management in 2019. Previous to that he was head of quality management at Mercedes-Benz Cars. Burzer has overseen Mercedes-Benz’s global production network, including more than 30 production sites for vehicles, powertrains and batteries, as well as worldwide logistics processes. In 2022 he oversaw the rollout of the MO360 Data Platform, designed with Microsoft, which unifies all information across Mercedes 30 passenger car plants worldwide.
Michael Schiebe brings more than 20 years of experience at Mercedes-Benz to the Production, Quality and Supply Chain Management division.
“Most recently at Mercedes-AMG, he has demonstrated how he combines strategic thinking and decisive action with operational excellence to great effect,” said Brudermüller. “We expect further improvements in our competitiveness through even closer cooperation between production and development.”
Paying tribute to Markus Schäfer, Brudermüller said he had been instrumental in Mercedes-Benz’s transformation from a traditional carmaker to production of electric vehicles and the integration of digital systems. “The current product offensive clearly bears his signature,” said Brudermüller. “His commitment to technological excellence and his deep connection to the Mercedes-Benz brand are reflected not only in his long-standing service to the company but also in his role as chairman of the supervisory board of Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix. On behalf of the entire Supervisory Board, I thank Markus Schäfer for his outstanding achievements and wish him every possible success for the future.”
