Hyundai Glovis Europe, Koopman Logistics Group and the Port of Amsterdam have formalised a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening automotive logistics operations and supporting future growth across the European market.

The three organisations signed a strategic cooperation agreement during a ceremony in Amsterdam on May 28, outlining a shared commitment to improving connectivity, operational efficiency and supply chain resilience within the automotive logistics sector.

The collaboration brings together Hyundai Glovis' international vehicle logistics network, Koopman's operational expertise in automotive logistics and vehicle handling, and the Port of Amsterdam's role as one of Europe's key maritime logistics gateways. According to the partners, the agreement is designed to create a more integrated logistics platform that combines maritime access, inland distribution capabilities, vehicle storage infrastructure and operational flexibility to support future automotive supply chain requirements.

Johan Staahlberg, chief operating officer for finished vehicle logistics at Hyundai Glovis Europe, said the partnership would strengthen the company's position within the European market while creating opportunities for long-term operational development.

"This agreement represents an important milestone for Hyundai Glovis in Europe," said Staahlberg. "Through this collaboration, we aim to further strengthen our logistics network and build a more connected, efficient and future-oriented operational platform together with our partners."

The Port of Amsterdam has increasingly positioned itself as a strategic automotive logistics gateway, offering access to major European markets through its maritime connections and inland transport network. The new partnership is expected to support future growth in vehicle flows while enhancing operational resilience and service capabilities.

For Koopman Logistics Group, which already has an established presence at the Amsterdam location, the agreement provides an opportunity to further develop automotive logistics operations and terminal capabilities alongside international partners.

Klaas Koopman, chief executive officer of Koopman Logistics Group, said the collaboration would reinforce the site's role within the European automotive logistics landscape.

"For Koopman, this partnership builds on our strong presence at this location and allows us to further strengthen the terminal together," he said. "By combining our local operational expertise with this international collaboration, we are creating a solid and reliable foundation for future automotive logistics in Europe."

The partners said the agreement extends beyond operational efficiencies and reflects a broader commitment to developing future-focused and sustainable logistics solutions through closer cooperation.

Koen Overtoom, chief executive officer of Port of Amsterdam, said the agreement aligns with the port's long-term development strategy. "We are building the Port of the future: connected, clean and internationally competitive. Hyundai GLOVIS is exactly the kind of global partner that fits that ambition," said Overtoom.

The agreement forms part of Hyundai Glovis Europe's wider strategy to expand and strengthen its automotive logistics network across the continent, supporting growing customer requirements and evolving supply chain demands in the European automotive sector.
