Proficient Auto Logistics announces agreement to acquire Hansen & Adkins
Proficient Auto Logistics has made an agreement to acquire fellow automotive transportation specialist Hansen & Adkins in a deal worth $130 million.

On August 10, 2026, Proficient Auto Logistics confirmed that its $130 million deal to acquire Hansen & Adkins is expected to close in mid-August, subject to customary closing conditions. Proficient has claimed that this acquisition will create North America’s largest finished vehicle logistics platform with a network spanning the United States and Canada.
The company noted that this transaction will enhance Proficient’s ability to invest in technology, fleet capabilities and strategic initiatives to provide reliable core services that are critical to automotive OEMs’ vehicle distribution networks.

Founded in 1994 by Steve Hansen and Louie Adkins, Hansen & Adkins has served OEM customers in the US and Canada for more than three decades. The addition of Hansen & Adkins' North American business is set to more than double Proficient’s owned fleet capacity, while incorporating more than 900 experienced drivers, operational and support management personnel into Proficient’s team.

Both Hansen and Adkins will remain at the company as advisors until the end of the year in order to support the transition.
“Together, we can offer greater capacity, enhanced network flexibility, and the operational expertise to deliver vehicles safely, reliably and efficiently at a time when asset-based capacity is vital for our industry,” Hansen added.
With this acquisition, Proficient will expand into the Canadian market under the brand name MCL McGill, broadening its North American finished vehicle logistics network.
Once the transaction is completed, Proficient expects to move an annual total in excess of 4 million vehicles across the North American automotive supply chain, transporting units between ports, plants, railheads, dealerships, rental and fleet locations, auctions and other demand points.
This announcement follows news in May of a 42% drop in Proficient's first-quarter profitability despite higher vehicle deliveries. O'Dell attributed this sharp drop to a number of factors, including: rising fuel prices; higher operational costs; OEM plant shutdowns; weaker-than-expected North American vehicle demand; severe winter weather; and a slow recovery of rail and sea transportation pipelines.
The agreement to acquire Hansen & Adkins is the latest in a long string of M&A activity since Proficient became public in May 2024. In connection with its IPO, Proficient acquired five automotive logistics firms: Delta Auto Transport; Deluxe Auto Carriers; Sierra Mountain Group; Proficient Auto Transport; and Tribeca Automotive. It subsequently acquired Auto Transport Group in August 2024 and Utah Truck & Trailer Repair in November 2024. And in 2025, Proficient acquired two more companies: Brothers Auto Transport and PVT Truck & Trailer Repair. This would make Hansen & Adkins the 10th company Proficient has acquired since its IPO, once the deal is completed.
