Three US-based finished vehicle logistics brokerage companies have merged operations under a joint technology platform that provides real-time tracking, automated processes and expanded national coverage.

Together, SYCN Auto Logistics (ShipYourCarNow), Mercury Auto Transport and Rite Way Auto Transport Group will help move 25,000 vehicles a month. The combined service forms the largest privately owned transport management company for vehicle transport in North America, according to a joint statement by the companies in August.

Jeff Lassen, CEO of Rite Way Auto Transport Group, said: “We all competed in different market segments, now we're combining strengths to deliver a broader, more capable service network.”

Rite Way provides services for oversized and complex vehicle moves supported by proprietary tracking systems, while SYCN Auto Logistics provides technology-driven relocation, fleet, remarketing, OEM and dealer services. Mercury Auto Transport provides direct-to-consumer, privately owned vehicle shipping.

Combining non-asset-based vehicle logistics service means the companies will be able to provide network capacity growth with the flexibility required to handle fluctuating volume by leveraging a wide network of vehicle haulage firms across the US. With access to a range of different equipment in the network, vehicle makers can find transport for different vehicle types from sedans to commercial vehicles.

"What we've built in the fleet and dealer space is now amplified by advanced technology and new channels," said Gavin Kesten, CEO of SYCN Auto Logistics. SYCN Auto Logistics, based in Florida, uses a digital platform dedicated on which the full process for moving finished vehicles can be managed for customers, including quotes, booking, management and invoicing. Last year it launched an AI-enabled technology suite to support real-time vehicle logistics operations, including quoting, booking, tracking and post-delivery services.

Aligning operations and resources enables the three companies to build a stronger, more interconnected organisation capable of delivering greater value at scale, according their joint statement. Each company will continue to operate under its own name, maintaining the brand identity, customer relationships and services.
