Watch: ALSC Global 2026 - Day 1 Wrap up

Christopher Ludwig, chief content officer at Automotive Logistics & Ultima Media discusses the key highlights of Automotive Logistics & Supply Chain Global Day 1…

After a packed Day 1 at the 26th annual Automotive Logistics & Supply Chain Global conference in Plymouth, MI, Christopher Ludwig, chief content officer at Automotive Logistics & Ultima Media, reflected on a day full of insight, innovation and collaboration.

Discussions throughout the day carried this year's central theme, "Turning pressure into performance", directly onto the stage and into networking exchanges. Speakers emphasised that while the industry faces persistent headwinds from rising fuel prices, tightening transport capacity, driver shortages, and supply misalignments, none of these obstacles can or should be a barrier to growth.

A consistent theme across sessions was the strategic role that logistics now plays within the broader enterprise. OEMs and logistics providers stressed the importance of deeper partnerships, improved data-sharing, and integrating logistics decisions upfront to manage total delivered cost while prioritising network flexibility and resilience.

Technology also featured heavily throughout the day, with examples of how AI, supply chain digital twins, and real-time control towers are turning disruption into a competitive advantage.

Beyond stage sessions, delegates took advantage of structured peer-to-peer discussions in the Braindate Lounge, sponsored by Ryder System, Inc. The day concluded with our flagship Networking Dinner, hosted by Ryder System, Inc., where delegates gathered to reflect on key insights, strengthen executive connections, and discuss the future of automotive supply chains.
