The electrification of vehicles is redefining European automotive supply chains, with the emergence of new gigafactory locations for lithium-ion batteries, reconfigured component plants and new suppliers across the value chain. As carmakers like Volkswagen build these new networks for battery cell manufacturing, they must introduce many new processes, including different chemistries and cell aging techniques, transport regulations, weights and dimensions of modules, as well as new material handling and logistics automation potential. OEMs must also manage new skills and players from outside the automotive industry, which will require new ways of working adapting to new work cultures.
It will be a challenge, but for logistics and supply chain, one thing is clear: it is a huge opportunity to shape value, efficiency and sustainability from a greenfield perspective.
In this panel discussion, learn from experts from Volkswagen, packaging provider Orbis and global shipping line Maersk on they are designing and scaling battery and EV supply chains. You won’t want to miss hearing more about what is going to power European automotive logistics for the decade ahead.
