Red Sofa interview | Harry Davies on building resilient supply chains through DEI

Join us on the Red Sofa at ALSC Digital Strategies Europe as Harry Davies, a senior procurement, logistics and supply chain expert with over a decade of experience, shares his expertise on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the automotive sector.

Fresh from his panel at the Digital Strategies Conference in Munich, Davies offered practical steps and thought-provoking insights on how DEI can transform workplaces, supplier networks and industry resilience.

Davies said that DEI principles must extend externally to suppliers as well as internally within OEMs and logistics firms. Companies should ensure tiered suppliers adhere to ethical practices, fair wages and environmental safety standards, he said. Transparency in sourcing practices, such as avoiding child labour and unfair wages, is critical to equitable supply chains.

He added that digital tools can be leveraged for inclusion, although they can perpetuate biases if not carefully designed. He said that organisations must ensure that tools used for recruitment and HR management eliminate discrimination based on names, locations or appearances. Davies added that data analytics can track minority employee attrition rates and help organisations improve retention.
