Sustainability in logistics is a collective effort. On the Automotive Logistics Red Sofa at ALSC Europe 2026, Levent Yuksel, freight operations director at JLR, discussed the challenges and opportunities of scaling low-emission supply chains.

Collaboration at the core

Levent Yuksel, freight operations director at JLR, believes sustainability should be a collective effort in logistics

“Logistics is a sea of opportunities,” says Yuksel, “but it depends on how we develop a smarter approach. Collaboration is the only way forward.” He emphasises that no single party, whether OEM, logistics service provider, or investor, can drive sustainable logistics alone. Shared vision, commitment, and flexibility are essential to success.

EV trucks and green corridors

The implementation of EV trucks faces challenges including high initial investment and infrastructure gaps. Yuksel outlines how dividing responsibilities among stakeholders and creating green corridors can make sustainable transport achievable in the next 6–12 months.

Innovation across the network

Sustainability isn’t just about individual trucks. Yuksel encourages the industry to rethink operations: consolidating freight, shifting pickup and drop-off patterns, and fostering flexible, innovative approaches to reduce emissions.

Long-term partnerships over transactional relationships

Moving beyond short-term cost calculations allows OEMs and logistics partners to invest strategically. “When we take a long-term view, we can look more creatively and innovatively for the future,” says Yuksel, highlighting the importance of open-mindedness, transparency, and mutual trust.

Celebrating green shoots of success

Even small wins such as cross-cultural collaboration between freight partners can inspire broader industry change. Yuksel stresses that these successes, though incremental, provide motivation and proof that actionable change is possible.
