Five years into the carmaker’s digitalisation journey, Renault has gone through steps in implementation and understanding, says Carlicchi. Now, the OEM is in the predictive analytics stage, and has been making strategic partnerships with the likes of École des Ponts ParisTech, school of science, engineering and technology, to explore the future of AI optimisation in the supply chain.
“Digitalisation is a very long journey, it’s been almost five years now, and the first step was the data, where is it and what is it,” he said. “The second step was to do a visualisation, and the third step was to make the change with the people, with training and processes. The fourth step was to make it reliable, with our control tower for inbound transportation, and now we we have gone to the last step which is AI and predictive analytics, teaching a machine to start making automatic decisions.”
