Porsche forecast dented by aluminium supply shortage

Heavy rains in France, Switzerland and Italy at the very end of June caused flooding and fatal landslides as well as disrupting manufacturing. Porsche said the supplier had notified customers of the occurrence of a force majeure event.

Solar power for Daimler Truck’s Halberstadt global PDC

Daimler Truck is fitting photovoltaic modules to the roof of the new global parts distribution centre (PDC) it is building in Halberstadt, Germany. Having already covered 30,000 sq.m (12%), the solar panel system will eventually cover 90% of a total roof area around 250,000 sq.m. It is expected to generate more than 20m kWh of electricity per year. Surplus energy will be fed into the grid.

VW cancels ID.3 assembly plans at Wolfsburg plant

Volkswagen has cancelled plans to build the ID.3 EV at its Wolfsburg plant in Germany, which was planned for summer 2024.
