EwalsTruck[Updated April 3rd] European intermodal logistics provider, Ewals Cargo Care, has renewed its contract with Goodyear for another year to supply tyres for up to 3,000 trailers and 550 tractors in its fleet, as well as a full range of truck tyre support services. The latest contract extends the relationship between the two companies to more than 20 years.

Ewals runs its fleet from 13 European countries supplying just-in-time automotive logistics services.

Goodyear supplies Ewals' 100m³ mega trailers with high mileage KMax T tyres that have RFID tags built in, meaning they can be accurately monitored, equal to around 4,500 a year. According to Goodyear these communicate with its internet-based tyre management service – FleetOnlineSolutions – which it said reduces vehicle downtime while improving tyre management and security.

“A total EU truck tyre service package linked to a web-based monitoring programme exactly meets our needs,” said Bart Van Rens, fleet manager at Ewals. “As a result, we are continuing a relationship with Goodyear that has lasted more than 20 years.”

Van Rens said the RFID concept contributed to better monitoring of the fleet's tyres and reduced costs. He also pointed to the advantages for fleet monitoring brought by Goodyear's new 'eJob' system.

“This allows us to get instant information about any work being carried out; as the provider enters the relevant data via a PDA directly the job has been done, anywhere in Europe,” said Van Rens. “We feel very comfortable that the extension of our contract will result in the fruitful continuation of our partnership and collaboration.”

Goodyear provides the service for Ewals through its TruckForce network of more than 2,000 service providers across Europe. It also includes a 24-hour roadside assistance service, as well as the innovative FleetOnlineSolutions truck tyre management programme.

“We are delighted to continue our long relationship with Ewals,” said Waldek Jarosz, fleet solutions director at Goodyear Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). “Goodyear and Ewals have a partnership that has been and continues to be of great mutual benefit. Not only are we truck tyre and service provider but we have worked together on new truck tyre developments. These have been of great benefit in terms of producing innovative solutions to help improve Ewals fleet efficiency and reduce operating costs.”
