Toyota Motor Sales USA has appointed Randy Pflughaupt, formerly group vice president for Toyota marketing, as group vice president, sales administration in a role that will involve Toyota Logistics Services. He will succeed Bill Fay who has moved from sales administration to a new position as group vice president.
 
Nancy Davies will remain as vice president of Toyota Logistics Services, responsible for all operations in the US including vehicle delivery to Toyota, Lexus and Scion dealerships, new vehicle processing and accessory installation, as well as Toyota transport operations and export of North American produced vehicles. She will now report to Pflughaupt.
 
Pflughaupt oversees retail market development, distribution operations, corporate fleet, Toyota Certified Used Vehicles, Toyota Rent A Car and Toyota Logistics Services.  He is also now  responsible for international operations, including all Toyota operations in Mexico and Puerto Rico, and will report to Don Esmond, senior vice president, automotive operations.
 
Michael Testman has joined US finished vehicle carrier, Jack Cooper Transport, as chief financial officer. Testman has more than 20 years of senior management experience in the truck transportation industry, including 17 years as a CFO and six years in operations. He was most recently CEO at Wisconsin-based JHT Holdings, a commercial vehicle carrier, also serving on the Board of Directors.
 
Testman was also president of ATC Leasing, a JHT subsidiary and a former director of Mexicana Logistics, a Mexican truck transporter based out of Mexicali.
 
As part of wider changes affecting Wallenius Wilhelmsen ASA reported by Automotive Logistics News in March, Sjur Galtung has now officially taken up the position of president and CEO for Eukor Car Carriers, effective from the beginning of May. He succeeds Jan- Eyvin Wang who has led the company since January 1st 2008.
 
Galtung was previously Deputy Group CEO in the Oslo listed company Wilh. Wilhelmsen ASA, which holds a 40% stake in Eukor. He has been Eukor Board member since the establishment of the company in December 2002.
 
Jan- Eyvin Wang has simultaneously accepted the appointment as president and CEO of Wilh. Wilhelmsen ASA in charge of the WW Group shipping and logistics activities.
 
Belgian container shipping company Safmarine has appointed Jan Van Dooren as its chief process officer.
 
Van Dooren, who has managed a number of high-level projects during his 25-year career with Safmarine, is one of the company’s most experienced senior managers.
 
During the early and mid-90s he managed the carrier’s agency networks in Europe, South Africa and the US before being appointed, in 1999, to oversee the integration of Safmarine’s non-trade activities (processes, information systems and infrastructure) into the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group.
 
He also spearheaded the development of Safmarine’s e-Business activities.
 
Safmarine has also announced the appointment of Eric Herman as its chief commercial officer. Herman, who will be based at Safmarine’s head office in Antwerp, Belgium, has extensive commercial experience in the automotive supplier industries as well as petrochemicals and plastics. He has management experience in Asia, Europe and America and has lived and worked in the Netherlands, Sweden, the UK and China.
