Ford has announced the winners of its annual World Excellence awards, which recognises top global suppliers for outstanding performance, and amongst the 51 global suppliers that were recognised for services in 2013 were three logistics companies: finished vehicle carrier Jack Cooper Transport and lead logistics provider Penske Logistics took silver awards, while ocean forwarder Maersk Line received a Recognition of Achievement award for corporate responsibility.

It is the 16th year that the awards have been held but not the first time that Penske Logistics has been recognised. The company received a gold award in 2010.

“I am proud of our associates as their superior performance delivered solid results for our customer and earned this prestigious award,” said Penske Logistics president Marc Althen. “We sincerely appreciate this recognition from Ford as well as their collaboration around the world.”

Speaking for Jack Cooper Transport, Michael Riggs, chairman of Jack Cooper Holdings (pictured second from left), said: “Winning another global award based on Ford’s worldwide supply base was an incredible honour for the exceptional Jack Cooper team.”

Jack Cooper adds that award to the second Global Supplier of the Year Award it received from GM in March this year.

“Ford Motor Company is extremely proud to recognise the excellent performance of our suppliers and their contribution to our success,” said Hau Thai-Tang, group vice president, Global Purchasing. “Your companies’ commitment to quality, cutting-edge technology and cost efficiency is a vital part of the One Ford plan. Thank you for helping Ford achieve our business objectives and deliver world-class products and outstanding value to our customers.”
