Kansas City Southern (KCS) has appointed Erik Hansen as vice-president of intermodal, responsible for automotive operations, as well as sales and marketing. He is based in Kansas City and reports to executive vice president of sales and marketing, Patrick Ottensmeyer.

"We are delighted that Erik has joined the KCS management team," said Ottensmeyer.  "He brings a wealth of experience and leadership across a wide spectrum, including sales, marketing, operations and finance.  His expertise in the Mexican intermodal market, in particular, fits very well with KCS' strategic focus."

Hansen joins KCS after more than 25 years in leadership positions at transport and energy giant A.P. Moller-Maersk. Most recently, he served as managing director of Maersk Line Middle America

KCS has also appointed Daniel Bozung as assistant vice-president, mechanical operations. He moves over from commercial machinery maker, Caterpillar, where he held a number of roles, including in supply chain management.

Bozung will lead the development of KCSR's new work management system and implement a technical training programme for locomotive mechanics.  He is based in Kansas City and reports to vice president mechanical operations of Gary Jarboe.
