Global transport and logistics provider NYK is merging its activity in Indonesia with local provider PT Puninar Jaya. The alliance, called NYK Puninar Auto Logistics Indonesia (NPALI), will provide services including transport, storage, pre-delivery inspection and customs clearance for imports and exports of finished vehicles to the country. It will also serve local suppliers and distribution throughout Indonesia’s many islands.

Puninar Jaya has been working in the Indonesian automotive logistics market for more than 40 years. NYK also has well-established ro-ro services within Indonesia. Vehicle sales and production volumes have seen rapid growth in the country and demand in the country’s metropolitan areas, as well as in the country’s smaller islands, has been increasing according to NYK. The new entity is expected to experience fast growth and increased service demand.

Based in Jakarta, Puninar Jaya operates a fleet of more than 700 trucks, and has 150,000 square metres of indoor warehousing space. It also has an extensive outdoor storage area and is known for efficient customs clearance for both import and export needs.

NPALI will be able to use NYK’s domestic ro-ro services within Indonesia to offer door-to-door logistics services.

“Combining NYK’s extensive services with Puninar Jaya’s high-quality operations and local network, NPALI will become a total logistics provider and the only provider able to support customers in the area by offering seamless services,” said the new company’s president director, D. Budijanto (pictured on the right with Takaya Soga, general manager of NYK's Auto Logistics Group).
