NYK Auto Logistics India has developed a dedicated stockyard for Ford vehicles at the port of Chennai. The 7,000-square-metre facility, which will provide storage for vehicles produced at the company’s nearby Chennai plant, has capacity for 500 cars.

The construction of the stockyard was started on June 5th this year and completed to Ford’s quality standards in under 50 days.

An inauguration ceremony at the port was held last week attended by Atulya Misra, chairman, Chennai Port Trust and Joginder Singh, president and managing director, Ford India.
 
Singh said that the facility was a significant step in providing access and further accelerating exports of Ford vehicles manufactured in Chennai, including the new EcoSport. NYK India’s management also expressed their gratitude to Ford India and Chennai Port for their team effort and support in implementing the project.

NYK provides Ford with a range of global services, including ro-ro and container shipping, terminal logistics and other inland services at several locations, including the ports of Chennai and Ennore in India. It also provides services from the Indian ports of Mumbai, Kolkata and Mundra and serves a range of customers in addition to Ford including Suzuki, Tata Motors, Nissan, Toyota, BMW, Isuzu, Mitsubishi and various other commercial vehicle manufacturers.
