Transport and supply chain management provider, Ryder System, has appointed Gary Allen as its vice president of Engineering. He will be responsible for overseeing the Supply Chain Engineering team and leading quality, programme management and engineering in support of the overall Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) organisation at Ryder.

Allen will report to president of Global SCS, John Williford.

Allen has more than 24 years of experience in supply chain services. He joins Ryder from Ernst & Young LLP, where he led the company’s logistics consulting practice. Prior to Ernst & Young, he spent seven years with Exel where he had various leadership roles in product development, solution design, operational excellence, sustainability, and partner innovation.

“Ryder employs the most talented logistics engineers in the industry,” said Mr. Williford. “Gary’s expertise and leadership will enhance our ability to provide customers with the most innovative and efficient supply chain solutions.”

Amongst his other activities Allen helped launch and co-author the “Annual Third Party Logistics Study” with Dr John Langley from Pennsylvania State University. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Materials and Logistics Management from Michigan State University.
