Commercial vehicle parts provider ArvinMeritor has opened a new aftermarket parts distribution centre at its axle manufacturing plant near Monterrey in Mexico.

The warehouse, which is 20% bigger than the company’s previous facility at 3,270m2, will now serve more than 300 dealer and parts distributors in Latin America and Mexico and is expected to improve picking and kitting times by 30%.

It will stock nearly 7,500 items across 22 product lines, including replacement parts for brakes, front axles, drive axles and trailer axles.

“[T]his operation is the next step in our strategy to standardise parts-handling systems and processes across our global aftermarket organisation,” said Craig Cartmill, general manager, Worldwide Operations Aftermarket. “The Monterrey distribution centre immediately services the specific needs of Mexican distributors and the advancement of our aftermarket distribution network around the world.”

The company expects an 11% improvement in shipping accuracy and customer fill rate against the previous facility that was based in nearby Escobedo.
