UK-based supply chain, warehousing and transport provider, Bibby Distribution, was awarded a customer service award for its parts distribution service for Toyota at the annual UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) Awards held last week in London.

The award recognised Bibby’s national same-day delivery service for automotive parts to 260 Toyota and Lexus service centres.

The service centres place parts orders by midday and Bibby delivers the parts from local warehouses by 3pm allowing customers to collect their vehicles later on the same day. Five service depots are located across the UK, each carrying up to 12,000 stock lines.

According to Bibby those stock lines are picked and delivered through the service annually and service centres are able to track where parts are via satellite using information streamed from delivery drivers‚ PDAs.

Ray Duffey, senior manager, Toyota Parts Centre GB, said, “With these facilities in place we can offer customers an excellent and seamless service. Working with Bibby Distribution means we always have real-time visibility of the delivery status and knowledge that our products are being delivered on time to meet our customers‚ expectations.”

The full implementation of the service followed a pilot project conducted from Toyota’s national parts centre in Lutterworth.
