Gefco is setting up a subsidiary to provide automotive and logistics activity in Chile following demand there and in the wider South American region.

The new business will be based at a storage centre to be developed in Noviciado, near Santiago and will have capacity for 3,500 vehicles from carmakers Peugeot and Volkswagen.

Gefco has been active in Brazil and Argentina since 1999 and has seen activity there grow considerably in recent years. The region accounted for more than 32 per cent of turnover in 2007.
