Aparna BPO Services, a logistics BPO (business process outsourcing) provider, has opened an automotive parts warehouse to support suppliers in and around Pune, India.

The warehouse, which provides logistics support to companies including Tata Bearings, SKF Bearings and NRB Bearings, is based in Chimbli village near Pune and has a capacity for 9,000 tonnes of components and spare parts.

“The warehouse will be an important centre of logistics management for automotive component makers and other SMEs in the industrial belt of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad,” CEO Rakesh Singhania told reporters. “The ever growing SME [small to medium-sized enterprises] segment in this region needed a one-point logistics solutions provider. We have decided to [cash in on] this opportunity.”

The three bearings suppliers given logistics support by the new warehouse provide parts for automotive companies in the region including Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Force Motors, John Deere, ZF Steerings, Maharashtra Scooters, Piaggio Vehicles, Mahindra & Mahindra and Cummins India, amongst others.

“We expect our SME clients to draw a huge advantage out of the new warehouse. Since our own BPO will run the support for a warehouse managed by our own company, the SME clients will achieve better efficiency levels,” said Singhania.

Aparna plans to expand its warehousing division over the next five years.

Effective supply chain and warehouse management will be just one of the subjects covered at the Automotive Logistics India conference being held in Pune between 2nd and 4th December this year. Further details are available here.
