Caterpillar Logistics Services has won a safety award for its Breda warehouse which opened last year in the Netherlands. The 10,000m2 facility, which provides logistics services to SsangYong Motor, was given the title Safest Warehouse in the Netherlands by BMWT, Randstad, VTL and Transport + Opslag.

Cat Logistics runs SsangYong’s European parts distribution centre and supports 20 spare parts distributors across Europe. The parts include doors, windshields, bumpers, exhaust pipes, engine parts and frames.
The judging panel, presided over by professor Rene de Koster of the Erasmus University of Rotterdam, looked at criteria including safety on the shop floor, safety awareness of employees, ergonomics, working climate and efficiency.

Cat Logistics employs a range of safety provisions on the shopfloor as part of its ‘Put Safety First’ initiative.
“Workplace safety is our top priority,” said Steve Larson, Chairman and President of Caterpillar Logistics Services. “It’s great to see our Breda team receive recognition for their outstanding work in creating a ‘Safety First’ culture in their facility.”

Cat Logistics succeeds DHL and Intel, who won the award in 2006 and 2007 respectively.
