Triumph Motorcycles is currently reviewing its European distribution operation and has posted a competitive tender process to find a third party logistics supplier. The company has been using Gefco since 2003.

Gefco started working with Triumph by providing a cradle rental service as well as storage and distribution in Italy, extending its service in 2004 to include France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria and the Benelux region. The UK was added in 2005. It operates a storage facility for Triumph in Sochaux, eastern France.

On average, the company carries 16 loads per week for Triumph, although the maximum number of loads has reached 31. In addition to the domestic deliveries in the UK, the biggest export markets are Germany, France and Italy.

Neither Triumph Motorcycles or Gefco were able to comment on the development.

Triumph has appointed logistics and supply chain specialists Gideon Hillman Consulting to manage the tender process, which will include an initial Pre Tender Qualification stage. All interested parties are required to register their interest directly with Gideon Hillman Consulting via email to info@hillman-consulting.com by Friday 25th September 2009, quoting reference ‘Triumph – PN0050’.
