Yokohama Tire Corp in the US has appointed Rick Alonzo as its new senior director of supply chain and logistics. He replaces Jeremy Kahrs who has moved to a new role as chief strategy officer.

Alonzo moves from biotechnology company, Roche Diagnostics, where he was director of global supply chain management. Prior to that he worked for the Renault-Nissan Alliance Group as a regional manager responsible for supply chain procurement across the Americas. He was also in formerly in charge of Nissan North America’s just-in-time automotive manufacturing and aftermarket parts transport and distribution networks.

Alonzo’s appointment follows a number of executive changes at the company this year. In January Jeff Barna, to whom Alonzo will now report, joined as chief operating officer.

“Rick brings more than 20 years’ experience in supply chain management, logistics and procurement and is well-versed in leading large multi-site distribution centres,” said Barna this week. “He’ll definitely be a major asset for us.”

Barna’s announcement was followed in April by the appointment of Bruce Besancon as senior director of OTR sales (OTR stands for off-the-road and refers to tyres used in industrial or other heavy load environments).
