Ford has appointed XPO Logistics to deliver aftermarket parts to more than 200 dealers in the UK.

Under the deal, XPO will be responsible for outbound distribution and line-haul parts flows, as well as overall asset management.

The logistics firm will also handle over 200 daily collections from the Ford parts centre in Daventry, Northamptonshire and manage product returns from dealerships.

According to Surinder Bisal, manager of distribution services and transport at the OEM, XPO will use its established night-time distribution network as part of the service.

“Parts availability at our dealerships plays a huge role in customer satisfaction for Ford,” commented Bisal. “XPO is the chosen provider, tasked with delivering this service on time and in full.”

Goods will be moved from Ford’s Daventry centre in the East Midlands to the dealer network around the country.

“We look forward to adding significant value to Ford’s distribution of aftermarket parts through our technology and transport network,” said Dave Finnie, business unit director at XPO.
