Neptune Land Services will start operations at a newly built vehicle temrinal in southern France from Q1 2026 able to process 200,000 vehicles annually.
Neptune Group is developing a vehicle terminal in the south of France, to be operated by Neptune Land Services (NLS). The terminal, named NLS Port-La-Nouvelle, is expected to commence operations in Q1 2026.
This marks the group’s first port-based automotive terminal, which it said is a significant step towards strengthening its presence across the finished vehicle logistics supply chain. According to Neptune Group, the new hub will “reshape automotive logistics” in the western Mediterranean.
Connected by road, rail and ocean, the terminal covers 25 hectares and is able to handle up to 200,000 vehicles annually, with storage for 12,000 vehicles and two dedicated berths for car carriers.
Neptune Group said that in line with its commitment to sustainable and high-performance logistics, the terminal will feature a pre-delivery inspection (PDI) centre and dual rail access, supporting efficient operations and minimising environmental impact. Terminal management services will cover short- and long-term storage, ongoing maintenance, refuelling, battery charging, cargo lot preparation, customs clearance, transhipment, and train loading/unloading. The pre-delivery inspection services include damage repair, fleet and individual customisation, retrofitting, and vehicle washing.
In terms of digital technology, NLS will use a terminal management system (TMS), e-gates and electronic vehicle inspection systems. Additionally, solar panels will be installed to promote the use of renewable energy throughout its operations. Once fully operational, the terminal is anticipated to create employment for up to 70 workers.
“France is one of Neptune Group’s most important markets, with nearly 20% of our overall volume either originating from or destined for the country,” said a spokesperson from Neptune Lines. “We maintain long-standing partnerships with all major OEMs based in France and have been supporting their evolving supply chain needs for decades. Port-La Nouvelle offers a strategic greenfield opportunity to continue responding to those needs through a dedicated terminal in this key region.”
The development at Port-La-Nouvelle is part of NLS’s wider growth since its establishment in January 2023. The company also acquired Ferst Logistics in Greece, taking on 400,000 sq.m of facility space and a fleet of 35 trucks, further strengthening its presence in the finished vehicle logistics supply chain.
Neptune Group said this strategic expansion aligns with its integrated approach, which combines land and maritime logistics to serve the end-to-end needs of automotive manufacturers. Parto f that service includes its Neptune Lines shipping division, which delivers finished vehicles and high and heavy equipment on short-sea routes across Europe, North Africa and the Black Sea. In 2024, Neptune Lines transported approximately 1.75m vehicles and is on track to surpass that figure in 2025, according to the company.
